Why am I here???

The guest speaker just said that uneducated people makes better choices then educated people!!! If that is true... Then why am I still sitting in class on a Saturday?! Time to make a "bad" choice and sneak out of class!!!

Another Saturday lecture...

One of the things that I miss about JIBS?! No weekend classes... Ever!!!!

This weekend will need a lot of fun to weigh up for all the weekend classes that I'm forced to attend!

I'm right now attending the first off five classes this weekend.... I will admit that our guest speaker right now, Dr Sandeep Pandey, has a few good things to say about bottom of the pyramid consumers and the poverty in India.  Still it´s not the time or place to tell them when it's 6pm on a Saturday night! AND class nr two will be held right after this one :-(

I can only hope that the party tonight can weigh up for this and what's to come tomorrow... Tomorrow at 8.30am the fun will start all over again with three classes in conflict and negotiation... My plan right now is to go straight to class from the party :-) Could be fun :-) I have even borrowed a thermos from Aman for coffee so that I will have some chance at staying awake :-)

Friday night on the town!

Friday night and it's time to hit the town!

We started our night at Flame & Grill for a meat buffet and ate so much that the ability to move got severely reduced! :-) Having you own mini grill on the table and waiters that keep coming with food is the best way of going into a food coma!!!
 I'm going for some shrimps...
While Bora tends to the meat :-)
One might think that there would be no room for desert but as I always tried to explain to my mother as a child... Food stomach and desert stomach is not the same stomach and there is always room for desert!!
Bora looks a little mad but I think he was as happy with the food as I was!
After way to much food and a slight food coma we decided to drop by Olypub for a drink or two! This is the best place for cheap drinks and smokey and dirty surroundings!!! It is like a student pub with the expetion of all the old people hanging around! I think someone forgot to tell them that they are no longer young students and should move one to nicer places!!! :-)
As always, we had a great time at Olypub but since they close so early we moved on to The Park...
I can only blame one of these pictures on the alcohol... The other one is taken in a completely sober state... :-)

The night then continued to Someplace Else where we listened to live music and had some Sambuca! (I hope you remember the Sambuca this time Bora ;-) )

A great night on the town and tonight it's time for the placement party! It should be legen.... wait for it...... dary!!!

Indian diet vs Antibiotics

I have had the Indian diet for a few week but finally got tired of it and got myself some antibiotics! This is one of the things that I really like about India, you can just go to the pharmacy and ask for anything and they will get it for you, no prescription needed and no question asked!
No waiting time one the phone to get an appointment with a doctor...
No need to even see a doctor...
No long waiting line at the pharmacy
No high prices for medicine (I only paid 30 SEK for my antibiotics and two other pills!)
The negative side of this (and there always is one)... The taste of death in my mouth from the very strong antibiotics that they gave me! I'm guessing it's killing everything in sight :-)

Indian cinema!

Last night Aman and I decided to hold off on our room war and went to the movies!
Going to the movies in India is pretty much like any other place except for the 3D glasses that actually looks some what good here!
One thing that is different and some what strange is that half way trough the movie, there is a break and in comes like 10 guys trying to selling popcorn, sodas and all kinds of other snacks!

The movie for the night... The Adventures of Tintin 3D of course :-)
The movie was very much like the comic books and very well made so it is highly recommended by me!

Revenge is a bitch :-)

I kind of started a war against one of my wing mates and now the revenge has occurred.... I very stupidly left my door unlocked for a few minutes and this is what awaited me on my bed when I came back!!!

One note that lead to...
 another note...
 and another
 and another
and another
And finally the note that actually told me where to find my kidnapped mosquito net!!!
If you think that this will be the end of it... Then you are very wrong Aman :-p

Birthdays at IIMC

When you have your birthday here at IIMC there are a few things that are mandatory..

The first being cake!
The second one being the nice company of your neighbors...
And the third and most important one...
CAKE IN YOUR FACE!!!

Some might think that it's a waste of cake but Clémence were all smiles with her face covered in cake!
The main cake-in-the-face-smear-person, Aman, was very happy with his accomplishment!
Sandip also wanted some piece of the action (or rather the cake) and joined in!
So from all of us on H4 top to you Clémence, Happy Birthday!

Till min pappa!

Till min underbara pappa...

Ha en fantastisk fars dag och se till att njuta lite och inte bara byta däck på bilarna!!! ;-)

Massa kramar från minsta dottern!!!

Agra --> Delhi in a car

Driving in India is not like driving anywhere else! And driving on the countryside is filled with even more strange things! Like a pile of hay in the middle of the road that belongs to no one!
But our driver nicely got out of the car and started clearing the road :-)
You can drive by a house that looks like this...
Or like this! A store that has gone a little overboard with the blue! :-)
Leaving the towns you can find a woman walking in the street carrying a big bag on her head...
Women are not always considered as valued members of society but to call this building a girls hostel is just mean :-)
A well packed motorcycle going full force
And a very colorful tuk tuk...
Followed by a family trip on another motorcycle (The kid in the front looks sooo happy being the one in charge of the driving!)
People on the roads are not that uncommon but neither are animals!
Left traffic or right traffic... It makes no difference here :-)
India is a place full of diversity and a good example of that can bee seen when entering Delhi... You have this new building on one side of the road...
And this building on the other side!
Travel in India by car is a must to see all the beautiful a crazy things that this country has to offer!

Monkey business!

Outside a restaurant a monkey stopped me and I couldn't resist so I got down on my knees to cuddle a little! Ever since I was a kid and saw Pippi Longstocking I have wanted a monkey and this was probably the closest I will ever get!!!
The very well behaved monkey even shook my hand!!!

Day two of the Agra trip

Day two of the Agra trip started a little slow since we were some what low on sleep (because of Bora :-p) but off we went in a rented car at 7am!

The destination = Fatehpur Sikri!

The stairs leading up to the entrance
Bora and I at the 54 mt. high entrance called Buland Darwaza
And here with the stairs behind us ready to go inside :-) As our guide repeated over and over again "If Akbar not become successful in getting a son here, there be no tomb and we not enjoy the trip today."
Right outside the gate was these two water tanks and according to our guide, people used to jump from the top of the wall down into the bigger tank for the fun of it!
The entrance has three arched entrances and the largest one (seen above) is locally knows as the Horseshoe gate. The reason is that there was a custom of nailing horseshoes to its large wooden door for good luck!
Inside!
An old man using his arms to move around the couryard
Arches after arches going on for forever in this amazing construction
The white marble encased tomb of Salim Chishti
A man washing himself in the water in front of the tomb (well as clean as you can get in green water!)
One of the white marble graves that can be found in the courtyard... All the men are buried outside and all the women are buried inside!
More graves outside (The white marble ones are for the immediate family to the King and the darker ones are for more distance family)
I don't know where the squirrel would rank but at least he/she has plenty of food!
 The sunrise over the graves
The graves of the women inside
Once again we where asked by our guide to look at the wall and these two pictures was the result! :-) In his own words "I no photographer, but I see where good picture and I take it for tourist pleasure."

To go inside the tomb we had to by some cloth to sacrifice (given to the poor they said) and we would then be granted one wish each... You could wish for anything in the world but you were not allowed to tell anyone (except you wife/husband)... But since I'm not married to Bora or anyone else for that matter my wish will remain a secret ;-)
We also tied a piece of rope to the window inside the tomb

Back in the days, women were not allowed inside the tomb and could only watch through this small door!
To get inside the tomb you had to get past this old man and I'm pretty sure he has been there since the beginning around 500 years ago ;-)
 Happy to be outside again!
This was a place for prayers and another old man was in the middle of cleaning it when we where there!
He was very focused in his cleaning ;-)
The amazing view in the sunset

Outside the tomb sitting pretty by the green water
As you might remember from my trip to Taj Mahal, I sometimes become the tourist attraction and the same thing happened here! When we were leaving, a huge group of Indians spotted me and started taking pictures like crazy... I myself couldn't resist and started taking pictuers of them as well... It kind of backfired since it only got them even more excited!

We got out of there quickly only to see another very common thing here in India, children begging for money or trying to sell you things... Here is one example of a small child following us around trying to sell some cards...
Sad but true...
